No, it’s fine to start without, the club has a good selection. However, as your child’s skills develop, you may find it worthwhile purchasing one.
Sports clothing appropriate for the weather (no casual or school uniform). Non marking tennis footwear is essential (no studded trainers).
Mini tennis is a great introduction to the sport for young children between 3 and 10 years old. It’s just like the real thing but with smaller courts, nets, racquets and lower bouncing balls. See our information sheet for full details.
Red – 8 years and under
Orange – 8and 9 years
Green – 10 years
Yellow – 11+
All coaches are LTA accredited and Russell and his team are qualified first aiders. Secure and well maintained premises further help to keep the club safe whilst groups are kept small to ensure safety. However children remain the responsibility of their parents at all times.
There is an annual junior tournament, tennis leagues and weekly match play sessions. Junior teams in every age group compete in the Surrey leagues and RPLTC has hosted several junior tour county match play events.
Half terms, Easter and Summer holidays as well as primary school Inset days.
