Saturday 13 October saw the official opening of our four new artificial clay courts.
Cutting the ribbon was BBC, BT Sport, ITV and Eurosport tennis commentator and former world no.53 ranked player, Sam Smith (pictured below cutting the ribbon with our Head Coach, Russell Dykes).
Approximately 100 members of all ages came to hear Sam comment on subjects as wide ranging as who inspired her to start playing as a child through to whether former world number one Andy Murray will make it back to the top of the game. Before the official opening, a junior tournament was hosted on the courts and it was followed by an adult social session.
Russell commented “It has been a real honour to welcome Sam to our club and we were delighted that so many members came to see her cut the ribbon. These four new clay courts will allow us to keep playing whatever the weather.”
