The long hot summer is over, we are down to four courts, the nights are drawing in and it’s most definitely the right time to re-start the Winter singles leagues.

We are going to have two leagues: Daytime Members League and Weekend / Evening Members League.

If you are new to the leagues, they work like this: all players are ranked on their ability and divided up into divisions of 5 or 6 players per division which makes for fun competitive games. Players then have about 6 weeks to play one match against each of the other players in their division – so usually four or five matches. It is up to players to arrange matches between them.

Each match comprises 11 games with the final game being a tie-break. Score 1 point for turning up, 1 point for each game won and 2 points for winning the match.

It’s lots of fun so get your name in the hat and let’s draw up the league – please let the following know by Fri 20th Oct so we can start playing later in the month.

League rounds normally run for 6 or 7 weeks so we should get 3 or 4 complete rounds in across the winter. The first one should start around 23rd October.

As before, we will be using the LTA to log our scores, so everything will be online, allowing you to enter and track results and standings online.

If you want to know anything more, please contact Russell Dykes, Mark Waine, or Phil Hall.
