Lara and Greta Representing Surrey in the County Cup
Lara and Greta have both been selected for the Surrey County Cup 10&U Team. The qualifying event takes place this weekend (18 & 19 May) in Sherborne, Dorset. Other teams competing this weekend are Dorset, Wiltshire, Hampshire & IOW. It’s an exciting event with lots of cheering, each team hoping to be the county that goes through to the south finals in Southampton in June.
You can find Greta and Lara practicing together at the club regularly. They really enjoy each other’s company and have lots of fun together but when they get on court it’s all business. They also play frequently with their parents.
Lara and Greta started at RPLTC when they were 3 years old with weekly coaching sessions. Their competitive tennis began with league matches representing the club and playing in our annual junior championships tournament, which is taking place again this year on June 29 and 30th.
We asked the girls what they like about being members at RPLTC. Greta said she really likes the environment and the coaches - especially Josh as he was her first coach and she thinks he’s funny. She also likes to play on the grass in the summer. Lara said she likes the coaches, practicing her slide on the clay, Junior Nights in the summer when they play lots of fun games, and that sometimes the adult members at the club will have a hit with her.
Good luck to Lara and Greta.
