Our showpiece centenary celebrations took place on Saturday 22 June at Old Reigations Rugby Club.
More than 100 members and guests from Reigate’s neighbouring sports clubs joined in a night to remember. Club founder, local cinematographer J Arthur Rank, was celebrated in a movie premiere themed night. Glamourous attire and a few movie moguls were in attendance!
In a speech, Club Chairman Hugh Brown commented “Tennis has been played on the grass lawns at Reigate Priory LTC for the last 100 years and we look forward to developing our facilities and clubhouse over the next few years to attract a wider cross section of the community.”
Part of the evening was to raise funds to support Bright Ideas For Tennis Charity in their nationwide Breakpoint campaign which aims to offer tennis to mentally ill and disadvantaged sections of the community across the country. Robyn Moore, will be hitting 5,000 tennis balls at the club on Friday 28 June between 08:00-12:00 with members of the public welcome to come and attend and help support.
The evening finished with dancing and good memories to officially welcome in the next 100 years of tennis at Reigate Priory LTC.
