In the light of yesterdays announcements relating to bars and restaurants the LTA have instructed tennis clubs to close their clubhouses and suspend Social Tennis Sessions. Courts can however remain open. Further information can be found on the LTA website. https://www.lta.org.uk/workforce-venues/coach-teach/coronavirus-covid-19-advice-for-coaches/
Clubhouses, Gyms & Social Spaces
Following the Government’s announcement (Friday 20 March) that social spaces such as pubs, gyms and leisure centres must close, all tennis clubhouses and similar social facilities should be closed as soon as possible. Courts however can remain open for use to help ensure people remain active, subject to strict social distancing and hygiene practices being employed.
IMPACT ON RPLTC
As a club affiliated to the LTA we must follow their advice. If you wish to continue to play tennis please adhere to the following guidance.
- The bar and kitchen areas and changing rooms of the clubhouse are now out of bounds. The Bar keys have been removed
- Do not socialise in the clubhouse, you may only enter the clubhouse to wash your hands (which is recommended immediately before and after tennis), utilise the toilet facilities, collect balls and look at the noticeboard.
- Please come to the club in tennis attire, maintain social distancing and avoid congregating in groups as much as possible.
- Please also bring your own water and other drinks, use only your own equipment and do not swap or share racquets.
COACHING – All coaching activity has been suspended until further notice.
The good news is we are all still able to play tennis, if we want to. Lets hope spring and summer are accompanied with some optimism that things will gradually return to normal.
I’ll keep you updated if there are any further developments.
Hugh
Chairman RPLTC
