Our new Club Captain – Personal note from Graham B

“As most of you know, after 4 years as Club Captain, Tim has asked to step down at the end of this season.

The Club Captain has a critical role in broadening and improving the level of Tennis played at the club.  Tim has done an incredible job, putting his heart and soul into the role, and I believe he has really moved the club forward.  As well as running multiple teams and our three main tournaments, he has implemented numerous innovative ideas that have had a significant impact.  These include the organised team practice sessions, the highly successful February weekend tournament (that included a really wide range of players) and taking the tournaments themselves online.  It’s been a lot of work, and we would like to thank him for that.

After offering the post out generally, I am delighted to confirm that Claire Wiley has accepted our invitation to take over from Tim as Club Captain.  This will formally happen at the beginning of the new season in May, but I know she and Tim are working together for a seamless handover.  Claire’s deep understanding of the club, her coaching skills and her organisational capabilities mean she will bring a lot to the role.

I hope you will join me in congratulating Claire and giving her your full support.”
