The 2026 Reigate Priory Lawn Tennis Club Junior Championships have now come to a close, with six events taking place across the 8 & Under to 14 & Under age groups.
Across the weekend, players produced a high standard of tennis, with plenty of closely fought matches and excellent rallies. Despite the warm conditions, everyone competed with great determination and conducted themselves brilliantly on court, demonstrating the sportsmanship and respect that are such an important part of our club.
It was fantastic to see so many juniors taking part, enjoying the challenge of competition and representing the club so well. Events like these are a highlight of the junior calendar, giving players the opportunity to put their skills into practice in a fun and supportive environment.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the Junior Championships isn’t simply who wins the trophies—it’s seeing so many young players willing to step onto the court and compete. Entering a tournament takes real courage. It means putting yourself out there, dealing with nerves, handling both success and disappointment, and learning to keep going regardless of the score.
Tennis has a unique way of teaching lessons that reach far beyond the court. Resilience, problem-solving, self-belief, respect for your opponent and the ability to bounce back after setbacks are qualities that will serve these players throughout their lives. Every match, whether it ends in victory or defeat, is another step in their journey as both players and young people.

Congratulations to all of our winners and runners-up, and to every player who took part. Our showpiece U18 Girls and Boys singles events will run as knockout tournaments beginning Saturday, 13th June, with the finals showcased during the Senior Open Finals on Sunday, 6th September.
