The end-of-season awards and party at our tennis club was a fitting celebration to close out a fantastic season. The atmosphere was nothing short of electric, as members gathered for an evening of community, celebration, and fun.

We kicked off the night with delicious fish and chips, while the entertainment was provided by none other than Niyo Hatari, one of our talented junior members. His soulful voice and masterful piano playing created a magical ambiance. Following Niyo’s performance, DJ Simon took over, spinning tunes that kept everyone on their feet. With the bar bustling and margaritas flowing, the party energy was in full swing!

The highlight of the evening, of course, was the awards ceremony. A huge congratulations to all our winners, whose contributions and achievements made the season unforgettable.

Hugh Brown’s Club Contribution Award went to Magda d’Ingeo, who has worked tirelessly on the remodeling of the patio and clubhouse, giving us a space we are incredibly proud of. A special shoutout also went to our unsung club heroes: Hilary Austin, Catherine Hartshorn, and Bill Austin. Their tireless and ongoing volunteer work behind the scenes has a significant impact, and we’re so thankful for their efforts.

We also took the opportunity to recognise Tim Davies, who was instrumental in getting the marquee party-ready. Tim’s efforts don’t go unnoticed-he’s often found making improvements at the club and being a friendly and welcoming face for all members. His passion for both the club and tennis is contagious, truly reflecting the spirit of our community.

On the court, it’s been an exciting year of improvement and dedication. Nominees for The Most Improved Player Award included Lauren Hall, Kelly Price, Paul Margetts, Justin Gibson, Nataliia Bezprozvannyhk, and Josie York.  The winner of Most Improved Player Award was shared between Maryanne Maguire and Phil Williams. Both have shown tremendous commitment to improving their tennis skills, participating in lessons, friendly matches, and club-run tournaments. Their progress has been inspiring, and we’re eager to see them continue on this journey.

A big thank you to Jacqui for organising the event, we know how much hard work it was. Thank you to everyone that helped Jacqui make this night happen. To Hywel and Clive who rarely get a moment’s rest behind the bar. To those of you who just happened to be playing tennis the day of and the day after and could see help was needed, thank you!

What made the night truly special was the sight of new members, long-standing members, and junior members all coming together, celebrating not only the awards but the spirit of our club. It’s this sense of community that makes our tennis club so unique.

Thank you to everyone who made this season, and this celebration, so memorable. Here’s to another successful year on and off the court!
